Twitter grader is a third party app for twitter which calculates a grade for a particular twitter on a scale of 0-100. Apart from a grade out of 100 it also allots a Rank to the tweeter. Check out one of the Results here.

It follows a 5-Piece algorithm to calculate the grades. The fact which makes it interesting is that it takes into account not only the number of followers but also the power of the followers.

If you have people with a high Twitter Grade following you, it counts more than those with a low Twitter Grade following you.  It’s a bit recursive and in a way is similar to Google’s Page Rank. It also takes into account the number of updates, frequency of updates and the update recency.

It also helps if you have a high follower/following ratio. The level of engagement of the twitter user is also considered here. The more a given user’s tweets are being retweeted, the more times the user is being referenced or cited, the higher the twitter grade.  Further, the value of the engagement is higher based on who is being engaged.  If a user with a very high Twitter Grade retweets, it counts more than if a spammy account with a very low grade retweets.

Rubik’s Cube is one of the largest selling puzzle games in the world. Millions of people love this game including me.

As I was surfing through the net, I found a online game which worked wonderfully. The Virtual Rubik’s Cube was completely 3-Dimensional and it allowed you to rotate each of the layers separately and also the cube as a whole.

Though the game has existed online for a long time, I found this fast and simple enough.  Here is the link.

Loka.fm is a new site offering Chennai FM Radio stations online for free. It now streams

• Radio City 91.1 FM
• Aahaa FM  91.9 FM
• Suryan FM 93.5FM

It is currently providing only Chennai Radio stations and plans to increase its coverage to a wider range of radio stations. The FM stations are only only from 7 AM to 9 PM of your local time.

You need to complete a simple registration process before you are given access to listen to the stations online.
My Review : For Indian Users, the relay is delayed by 30 mins which is a cause of concern. There is often a discontinuity when I’m listening to a station. One minute it play one songs and the next second I hear a different song. It would be better if it is streamed live for Indian users.

Further more it’d be better if there is not User Registration required. Many users are discouraged when they see that they need to sign up in order to listen to radio. So it would be better if no registration is required.

Cricket has always been one of my great interests and I hope it is the same for millions of fans out there. Whenever I’m online I visit Cricinfo for updates and latest news on Cricket. When I’m at work or doing other stuff online it makes it difficult for me to keep up with scores of live matches.

My problem is now solved. I’m a regular user of Firefox and I use all its customizable features to the maximum. We have Addons which can be installed in Firefox. There are two of these addons.

• Hitwicket
• Scorewatch

Above is a screen shot of my Firefox Status bar with both these Addons installed. The one on the left is HitWicket and the one on the right is Scorewatch. You will receive latest score updates from these. You can change the preferences to enable alerts.

Hitwicket Addon gives you updates from CMDN.com whereas Scorewatch gives you the option of choosing between Cricinfo.com or ecb.co.uk. Scorewatch also gives you updates from both county cricket and International Cricket, whereas Hitwicket just shows the updates from latest International Match.

From my experience I can say that Hitwicket gives you more frequent score updates than Scorewatch. Click on the above links  and download these addons and enrich your Firefox experience.

Facebook, one of the World’s Largest Social Networks has announced that it would be providing its users with usernames. Earlier a person connected with his friends and colleagues by just his actual name. His profile URL was just a randomly assigned number like “id=592952074.” That soon will change.

Starting on Saturday, June 13th, at 12:01am, you’ll be able to choose a username for your Facebook account to easily direct friends, family, and coworkers to your profile. Its a first come first serve type of allotment. Facebook usernames will be available in basic text forms, and you can only choose a single username for your profile. Your username must be at least five characters in length and only include alphanumeric characters (A-Z, 0-9), or a period or full stop (”.”).

There is a wide-spread buzz throughout the social networking site regarding this. Some say that if people are actually searching for a person then they’ll obviously know their name. It doesn’t make any difference whether it is 34523424234234 or username234. Often the unavailability if usernames forces users to get some random usernames which they themselves don’t prefer.A majority of the users feel that the change is needless and is not required.

Some welcome this new change. Usernames allow public entities to easily promote your presence on Facebook with a short URL (http://www.facebook.com/yourname). This username can be used in your marketing communications, company website and business cards. Blogger’s also would try to get their names in such a way that it would help them in SEO of their site.

One more important point to note here is that once you select your username you cannot change it. So be wise in taking a decision on your Facebook username.

Much has been said about the speed of Firefox 3.5. The developers themselves say that the

Firefox 3.5 will be here soon, and it’s shaping up to be the fastest Firefox yet: more than twice as fast as Firefox 3 and 10 times as fast as Firefox 2

It is indeed faster but when compared to Google’s Chrome 2.0 Browser, its speed is less. Chrome is quite fast as I had written earlier. If speed is what matters for you, then Chrome 2.0 is the browser for you.

But Firefox offers a lot of other new features which are unavailable in Chrome. Firefox 3.5 has stiff competition from Chrome but Firefox’s numerous features – addons plugins etc make it the best browser to use. It is the most customizable browser and includes a lot of agenda-setting features.
