Follower and Following Page Improvements

When you visit your Follower of Following page, you can notice a few improvements which makes it much easier for users to manage the followers and also take some action like to send a reply or send a DM. There are two views available namely, the compact list and the expanded list. The ‘expanded’ list also shows the location of the tweep and the last tweet.

Hourly API Call Limits Increased

The hourly API call limits which was restricted to 100 is now said to be increased to 150. It is indeed a great news for those who use Third Party Apps to access twitter. It is also helpful for Twitter App developers.

Hashtag Hyperlinked

Twitter has started hyperlinking Hashtags. Hashtags as many regular twitter users know, is a tool used to organize your tweets. Appending a tweet with a hashtag makes it easier to find that topic in search. A few of the frequently used Hashtags these days are #FollowFriday and #IranElection. Now with the hyperlinking of Hashtags search and organising becomes even more easier.

Its been six years since it began its operations in Chennai and it is still going strong. Now it even operates in Coimbatore and Madurai. Its RJs are an enthusiastic lot and they come up with innovative shows to keep their listeners tuned in. Suchitra who was called Mirchi Suchi was one of the very first RJs of Radio Mirchi but eventually moved on to another station for unknown reasons. Almost every Radio listener of Chennai would have heard her in Hello Chennai which was one of the finest radio shows and which still is inspite of the change of RJs.

Recently they started the station’s own website with a profile page alloted for each RJ and a Blog for each of them too. Its a fully loaded site with program guides, galleries, Club Mirchi, Event updates and even Mirchi games. They even have a modified version of Pac-Man called Mirchi muncher. Once you register in the site you can also chat with the RJs if they are online at the same time, and also post your request online.

For a few other cities they have come up with the concept of visual radio for GPRS users who can now see what they hear on radio. Hoping for the concept to come to Chennai soon.

It is one of the few radio channels which we can easily call GETHU… Rock On guys..!!

The defending champs INDIA would be the sure shot favourites as we enter the tournament, but its Twenty20 after all and anything can happen in it (as we can clearly see in the last few matches of the IPL league matches).

The 2007 triumph means they will carry huge expectations on their shoulders in 2009 and anything less than a victory would be a disappointment for over a billion followers.

Commencing less than a week after the IPL, it surely is a holiday treat for the cricket crazy Indians (No, certainly not the Mumbai team – Mr.Ambani – What a silly name to have for your city’s team? lol) and I suerly expect it to be as GETHU as this year’s IPL.

Bheema and Sathyam Songs – VETHU

The other two albums which he did in the year 2008 were Vaaranam Aayiram and Dhaam Dhoom. Both were musical hits with all the songs becoming tremendous hits. Dhaam Dhoom, a movie which had huge expectations especially due to the hit songs, bombed due to improper handling of the subject. Even then, the music was widely appreciated. Harris has not disappointed his fans at least not completely.

Vaaranam Aayiram is perhaps the album of the year. Almost all the songs were raging hits and occupied the top slots in almost any countdown. Harris never seems to go outside of this comfort zone when creating music but he has the skill and the talent to create magic within his self imposed boundaries and this album is no exception. It will be impossible not to praise Harris for an excellent album. Thamarai has written the lyrics for all the songs except one which is penned by Na. Muthukumar. The strong emphasis on lyrics and melody is the forte of Harris and he has arguably been very much responsible in reinstating melody and emphasis on the vocals back in Tamil music. Harris has relied heavily on the guitar and has made the best use of it in this album.

Ghajini is the remake of the 2005 Kollywood Super Hit movie by the same name which had Surya in the lead role. The movie almost the same except a variation in the climax and the change of name from Sanjay Ramaswamy to Sanjay Singhania.

Sanjay Singhania is a business tycoon, who has very recently come down to India. Due to certain weird circumstances, he falls in love with Kalpana (Asin), a sweet lovable girl with a heart of gold. While Sanjay is on a business trip, Kalpana in an attempt to save girls from some dreaded criminals puts her life at risk. On the day of Sanjay’s return, Kalpana is killed by Ghajini while Sanjay is injured on his head. This leads to a mental disorder called anterograde amnesia. Sanjay suffers from short term memory loss; he forgets everything in 15 mins! His only goal though is to kill Ghajini, how he battles against all odds is what forms the rest of the tale.

Ghajini is a straightforward, no nonsense, violent, revenge drama about one man’s search for his girlfriend’s killer.

For Aamir, Ghajini is a 360 degree turn from the sensitive teacher he played in Taare Zameen Par. With a buffed up, eight-pack body, here he is a brutal killer in a murderous rage. Watch him as he explodes with grief and then just as quickly forgets it. It’s a memorable performance indeed. It indeed makes you compare his acting with Surya’s performance. I would say both were brilliant.

Ghajini’s strength lies in its gripping screenplay. As the plot unfolds and you find out more about Sanjay’s story, there is little time for the viewer to think. The raw action sequences are amongst the finest you will see in a long, long time. Watching Aamir’s character grapple with his 15 minute memory span makes for an engaging watch.

Hats off to A.R.Murugadoss for reproducing the Tamil hit with as much excitement and grip. If not for him the movie wouldn’t have come so far.
